Register a FIRST Tech Challenge Team in Georgia

Steps to Register a Team for Leagues in Georgia:

1. Register with FIRST
2. Register for Georgia FIRST Leagues (September 18th, 1p)
3. Pay the Georgia FIRST League Fee
4. Sign up for your League’s Meets and League Tournament

1. Register with FIRST

Registration with FIRST for the 2021-2022 Freight Frenzy season opened in May 2021 and runs all season long through mid-April.  But, before any team can participate in any FIRST event (excluding Kickoff), they must complete their registration with FIRST.

The cost of registration is $275.  This does not include the robot.

If you are counting on a Rookie Team Grant to help cover your costs you must wait to complete the checkout process until you are notified.  If you complete the checkout process before you are notified, you will not be able to apply the grant money and it will revert into the grant pool to be awarded to another team.

2. Register for Georgia FIRST Leagues

Registration for Leagues is available on our new registration system.  Teams are able to register in our system at any time.   League sizes are limited, and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTE: Your team may register for a league in Georgia at any time, but must pay both the FIRST Registration Fee (step 1 above) and the Georgia League Fee (step 3 below) before your team may participate in any league meets or tournaments.

Completing the Georgia League Registration:

1. Visit our registration portal and either log in or create a new account following the prompts and links provided. IMPORTANT: Be sure to use the email address associated with your teams on your FIRST Dashboard.
2. On the Teams tab, you will see any teams associated with your account. If you have a team that has not yet paid its FIRST Registration and they do not appear on your Teams tab, you may try to claim a team using the Claim a legacy team link at the bottom of the page.  This will send a message to the administrator to try to link your email to the legacy team.
3. Select the checkbox next to each team you would like to register for a league, then click Register Selected Team(s) for a League at the bottom of the page.
4. On the new page that appears, verify the teams selected to join a league, then use the What league should the selected team(s) join? pulldown to choose the league you’d like the teams to join. Fees for joining this league should appear.
5. If satisfied, click the Join Selected League button to create your invoice.

My League is full, and I have no other options.  What can I do?
If there is a league that you really need to be a part of, but the registration for that league is completely full, send us a message at jwelsch@firstpartners.org and let us know your situation.  The Georgia FTC Planning Committee has reserved a couple spots in each league based on extreme need, and we will consider your situation (extreme travel distance to other leagues, 100% meet date conflicts, etc.) before assigning your team to one of these spots. We may receive multiple requests for a particular league, and we reserve the right to assign the teams with the biggest need to these spots.  Assignments to these spots are not guaranteed.

3. Pay the Georgia FIRST League Fee

The cost of the League Fee for the 2021-2022 season is $300 per team. This fee covers participation in at least 3 League Meets plus the League Tournament.

League Fees are paid by:

1. ​Completing the league registration (step 2 above)
2. Receiving the league registration invoice (after clicking Join selected League from step 2 above or clicking the Invoices tab in your Georgia FTC Registration System account)
3. Paying the league registration fee by check through the mail or internal to the Georgia FTC Registration System via PayPal (an additional 3% credit card fee will apply).  Instructions for both methods of payment are provided on the Invoice.

Teams must pay their league fee at least one week prior to the first event they will participate in. Teams may not participate in any League events until their (1) FIRST Registration is complete and paid, (2) their League Registration is complete and paid.  Teams ultimately have until two weeks before their scheduled League Tournament to pay their League fee.  Not paying this fee before this deadline will cause the team to be removed from their league.

4. Prepare to compete!

Once your team’s FIRST Registration and League Registrations are complete and paid, your team may sign up for the meets and league tournament in your league.

1. Click on the Teams tab and select the checkboxes next to each team you’d like to have attend specific meets.
2. Click the Register Selected Team(s) for an Event at the bottom of the page.
3. For each team, select the checkboxes next to the events each team will attend. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Failure to sign up for meets will prevent a team from participating in meets.
4. Estimate the number of attendees per team at each event and enter it in the field provided.
5. Click Register for selected Event(s) at the bottom of the page.

You’re all set!  Your team will then be entered into the scoring system just prior to when the event starts, whether it be a remote or traditional event.
